Job Title: Senior Technical Program Manager

Location: Herndon, VA

Compensation: $175,000 - $250,000 annually

Role Overview We are an industry leader in mission-critical laser technologies for next-generation military and space missions. We are seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Program Manager (Sr. TPM) to lead $5M to $100M+ programs across our portfolio of laser systems, lidar sensors, and laser communications technologies.

Operating in a fast-paced R&D environment, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, serve as the primary interface for NASA and major defense partners, and ensure complex projects meet their scope, schedule, cost, and performance objectives. Additionally, you will drive strategic growth by contributing to proposals, shaping new collaborations, and advancing our technology roadmap.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional scientific, engineering, and manufacturing teams through the end-to-end development lifecycle of complex active electro-optical systems.
  • Serve as the primary customer interface, fostering enduring relationships and transparent communication.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive program plans aligned with technical specifications and statements of work.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical, cost, and schedule risks.
  • Forecast and manage program resource requirements, including technical workforce, facilities, and equipment.
  • Deliver executive-level briefings on program health, milestones, and challenges.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify growth opportunities, generate proposals, and guide internal investments.

Required Qualifications & Expertise

  • Clearance: US Citizen with the eligibility to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience, including proven success managing $5M - $100M+ R&D programs in the aerospace and defense sector.
  • Technical Background: Direct experience with systems engineering, optical or laser system development, and high-reliability aerospace programs.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or applied-science field (Master’s or PhD highly preferred).
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Government development contracts (NASA, DoD, and/or aerospace Prime Contractors).
  • Skills: Exceptional written/verbal communication, leadership, and customer-facing abilities.
  • Project Management: Full accountability for cost, schedule, and technical performance. EVM (Earned Value Management) experience preferred, including integrated baseline development.
