Electronics Assembly Technician – Custom Test Equipment & Prototype Builds Location: Westfield, IN (Indianapolis Metro Area) Department: Production / Assembly Employment Type: Full-Time Experience: Mid-to-Senior (5–10 years) Compensation: Competitive; commensurate with experience Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Assembly Technician to build, wire, modify, and test custom electromechanical systems, prototype fixtures, and rack-mount test cabinets for the avionics, defense, and medical industries.   • Assemble and modify electrical and mechanical custom prototype fixtures and 19" rack-mount test stands.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Build and wire control panels, custom cable assemblies, and interconnect systems (including VPC hardware and Pogo Pin fixtures).
  • Perform mechanical modifications (drilling, cutting, fitting) and soldering (wire tinning and PCB).
  • Test functional performance using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Inspect all installations and mechanical parts to ensure the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Qualifications Required:
  • 5–10 years of experience in electronics or electromechanical assembly.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or a related technical degree.
  • Hands-on proficiency with crimping, wire termination, soldering, harness building, and functional testing.
  • Excellent team orientation and communication skills. Preferred:
  • IPC certifications (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001).
  • PCB hand-soldering experience and familiarity with ESD-safe work practices.
  • Background in avionics/defense and experience in custom low-volume/high-mix production. Skills & Attributes You are a detail-oriented, craftsmanship-driven team player who enjoys variety.
